Hurricane Harvey help

Posted by

Want to help kiddos affected by Hurricane Harvey in Houston?

In case you didn't see this posted on our Facebook page:

"When your house is flooding and Mama tells you go get dressed because you are going on a boat ride adventure, you absolutely choose a MAC dress to evacuate in. Then you wear the dress for two days straight until someone brings clean clothes. Seen here exhausted from the boat and big truck ride in the torrential rains." - Lisa T.

Friends, I can't love this more. This sweet girl!!! A simple piece of clothing can provide normalcy in a difficult time.

Four ways YOU can help me help kiddos affected by Harvey:

1.) Now that our area is starting to meet basic needs, I would like to provide some normalcy to some sweet kiddos who are in the midst of the crazy. I am setting up a separate PayPal account to accept donations so that I can provide washable dressups for children affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Absolutely zero profit will be made from these donations-If you would like to support me and the store, please continue to order dresses as normal)

If you would like to support this effort, please send PayPal donations in any amount to: Christy@momapprovedblog.com

I can not provide a tax receipt, as it is not 501(c) but I will do as much as I can with what you donate!

2.) I am also doing a children's book and school supplies drive. I can put donations directly into hands of children and schools who have been devastated.

Please send all donations to the shop:

Mom Approved Costumes

Attn: Christy Slavik

14350 Cypress N Houston Rd

Cypress, Texas 77429

And I will make sure your donations are put to use to help return these kiddos to a sense of normalcy.

3.) In addition, I have set up a promo code HARVEYHELP to use on the site that will give you .01 off your order, which will trigger me to put 10% of your purchase towards Hurricane Harvey dress purchase through 10/31/17

4.) Also, if you are interested in helping with general Hurricane Harvey relief, I can get gift cards for Target/Walmart/Lowes and Home Depot directly into the hands of those affected- please send them to me at the address above- or donate via the paypal link above and in the comments, notate GENERAL Harvey Relief.

We are located in Cypress, which is a Northwest Houston suburb and our whole area has been affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Thankfully our home was spared from flooding- our neighborhood became an island, as we received about 30" of rain and spent 2 nights sleeping in a closet due to the constant tornado warnings.

The shop was spared flooding by INCHES and when we were finally able to make it to the shop to check things out , we found all of our inventory was totally INTACT and SAFE! I cannot tell you what a HUGE relief it was to see, when most buildings around us were flooded.

PLEASE allow 1-2 extra days for shipping as the USPS is having to reroute shipments for a while until our area normalizes a bit more.

Thank you for all of your support and patience through all of this!!

A Mom's Review of Cinderella

I am VERY conservative regarding what my children see, but there is nothing dark or scary in Cinderella. There is death of parents, but it is handled very well and is simply there to set the story. Transitions to non-grieving scenes are quick and well done.A concern I might have on taking little ones to [...]
